Salmon River Update

Winter is finally here in the Sawtooth Valley.  Sun Valley Company sounds optimistic about opening new terrain and we have more snow in the forecast.  For those of you who float with The River Company, we have some interesting news.  They are replacing the old O’Brien bridge.  Carol King was generous in donating monies to put in a temporary bridge.  On Dec 11th however the construction team ran into a bit of a glitch as half of the bridge fell into the river.  The crew removed the bridge from the river in record time and they are now nearing completion.

King offered to partner with the SNRA and put up an unspecified amount to help replace the bridge. Erik Gillberg, King’s ranch manager, said King was willing to share expenses for a new Robinson Bar Bridge not only to restore access to her ranch, but also to help Stanley-area rafting outfitters, who use the bridge to portage around Indian Riffles during the height of salmon spawning season.

For guests who visit us to float the salmon river late season to watch migrating Chinook Salmon this is great news.  This bridge will help tremendously from an operations standpoint.  The River Company would like to thank the Forest Service and Carol King for rapidly finding a solution to replace the bridge.

Have a great Holiday,

David and Heather
